What are Micro Greens?

  • Micro greens are young versions of salad leaves or herbs
  • They are grown to seed-leaf or true first leaf size
  • All are exceptionally tender and in most cases intensely flavoured
  • Varieties are especially selected for their unique flavour or visual impact and colour
  • Micro greens add interest and curiosity to your plate
  • Many Micro greens contain a higher concentration of phytochemicals* per gram than found in their mature versions (*Phytochemicals are chemical compounds that occur naturally in plants, such as beta-carotene. The term is generally used to refer to those chemicals that may affect health, but are not yet established as nutrients. While there is abundant scientific and government support for recommending diets rich in fruits and vegetables, there is only limited evidence that health benefits are due to specific phytochemicals)
  • Some Micro greens are considered to be “Superfoods”
  • Superfoods can be broadly described as foods containing health promoting or disease preventing properties beyond normal nutritional values
  • Micro greens are consumed whole, so there is little preparation required along with minimal waste
Micro greens are available as a range in different pack sizes and cost; for full details on these, please contact Nigel Hooper or Adrian Ellis, “Do you dare to be different?”
